Libraries

The University Library is one of Australia's oldest cultural institutions and one of the country's finest research libraries. The Library supports the University community by providing a wide range of collections, library services and learning environments that support both student learning and research.

The Library is firmly future-focussed, seeking to establish new ways of creating, collecting, sharing, recording, disseminating and preserving knowledge to enrich the academic and research mission of the University.

As a broadly based information organisation the Library provides University-wide leadership in the development of information policy, standards and frameworks for scholarly and corporate information, incorporating the University Copyright Office, archives and records services.

University Librarian - Mr Philip Kent

The University Librarian, Philip Kent, overseas the operation of the University of Melbourne's extensive network of libraries.  This includes learning spaces, Student IT and academic support for the LMS, all services that are integral to the student experience.

Director, Scholarly Information and Deputy Librarian - Ms Jenny Ellis

The Scholarly Information program retains responsibility for library services, information skills, research support, learning environments and library redevelopments.

Director, Information Management - Ms Donna McRostie

The Information Management portfolio includes records services, copyright and information policy, enterprise information architecture and strategy, and publications and events.

Director, Collections - Mr Jock Murphy

The Director, Collections oversees the University archives, cultural collections, special collections, collection development, and collection access.
