The Melbourne School of Graduate Research (MSGR) has an important role within the University's research environment, offering a range of enrichment activities and support mechanisms that contribute to the success of our graduate research candidates and consequently, to the research reputation of the University.
The Melbourne School of Graduate Research strives to create and support:
- Exemplary administration of research higher degree candidature
- Programs, workshops and academic enrichment opportunities for all graduate researchers
- Programs, resources and advice for graduate research supervisors and departments
- Quality assurance in research higher degrees
- Support in the development of a strong interdisciplinary community of scholars

- A dedicated centre for graduate researchers
Pro Vice-Chancellor (Graduate Research) - Professor Dick Strugnell
Professor Richard (Dick) Strugnell is Pro Vice-Chancellor (Graduate Research). Professor Strugnell is responsible for the new Melbourne School of Graduate Research, and for leading improvements to the quality of the University's postgraduate research education and its commitment to postgraduate students, an important element of the Growing Esteem strategy.
