Role of the Provost Division
The Provost division leads and supports the development, delivery and excellence of the University's curriculum, student experience and scholarly information services.
It has responsibility for the implementation and coordination of the Melbourne Model, the Melbourne Student Services Model and Melbourne's Scholarly Information Future. In doing so, it brings together the learning and teaching strand of the University’s Growing Esteem strategy with the provision of student service support to ensure coordinated oversight of all students’ academic and personal success.
The Provost is the Chief Academic Officer of the University of Melbourne and has a portfolio that includes:
- academic leadership, including the delivery of learning and teaching strategies
- academic partnership with Deans and Faculties, including academic staffing and engagement
- staff and student equity, including indigenous strategies
- coordination of student services, and the establishment of the Eastern Precinct Student Centre and University-wide Contact Centre
- the current and future business of the University Library
- delivery of staff and student recreation and sporting competition through Melbourne University Sport
