Towards 2011 Project
The next phase of the Melbourne Model will take effect in 2011 as the first graduates from our New Generation degrees flow through to our Graduate Schools and graduate programs. As we approach 2011, we are working to ensure that our graduate coursework programs conform to the highest and most up-to-date standards of what is expected in relevant professions and the wider community.
About the Project
In July 2009 Academic Board endorsed the terms of reference of the Towards 2011 Project, a steering committee which will recommend to the Vice-Chancellor and the Academic Board arrangements for the University's graduate programs in preparation for 2011.
The Towards 2011 Steering Committee is working with faculties, graduate schools, and University Services to consider a range of issues associated with graduate programs including strategies for improving the distinctiveness of our programs, for optimising graduate recruitment, and for attracting graduates from more diverse socioeconomic backgrounds.
The Steering Committee meets fortnightly and is supported by a smaller planning group. Six specialised working groups have also been established to assist in addressing the Project's comprehensive terms of reference.
This website will provide the main source of information for University Staff. The Project findings will be available from this website, and responses to the findings will be coordinated through the website.
The Project will produce staged reports leading to the April 2010 launch of the 2011 graduate coursework programs.
